Forest inventories and appraisals are among the core services that F&W
provides across the South from Maryland to Texas.
These services are essential for assessing the condition, composition, and estimated market value of standing timber, the underlying timberland, and other rural land.
Forest
inventories are the basis for timber appraisals, timber and land appraisals, forest management plans, wildlife habitat studies, and growth studies. Typical inventory reports include the number and
types of trees, descriptions of their sizes, estimates of the volume in cubic feet, tons, cords, and thousand board feet, estimates of the age classes, and estimates of the quality of the land.
Inventory reports can also include reports on insect and competition problems, mortality from natural disasters, and disease conditions.
Integrated forest inventory data
collection services and automated inventory reports can be produced quickly with TIMBER©, a comprehensive timber inventory analysis system developed by F&W.
Rural land appraisals form the basis for estate planning, estate division,
condemnation proceedings, damage assessments, and sales and purchases of rural property.
F&W has more than 30 years experience in performing rural property appraisals and has an extensive database of rural property sales, timber sales, timber leases, and other basic information necessary to determine the value of a particular property.
